Navy trousers – 4 office-wear ideas

When it comes to office wear, I believe simplicity is the key. In my opinion it’s not worth buying plenty of outfits but rather to learn how to mix different parts of clothing together. I’m a big fan of same-colour women suits, I think they look very classy but sometimes I want to bring some more variety and colour into the way I dress for my work. Today I want to show you four combinations with the same navy trousers so here we go:

  1. Classical cream and black:

Light top always looks classy with a black jacket so I suggest to have a few in your wardrobe. Remember don’t let it loose, put it into your trousers instead. You can finish it up with a nice simple belt and add delicate jewellery. The less the better. And of course black heels to match the black jacket.

In this photo I’m wearing:

  • navy office trousers (H&M)
  • cream top with short sleeves (H&M)
  • black jacket (H&M)
  • black heels (Primark)

2. Why not add some pattern?:

Why not bring some pattern to your outfit? I suggest the colour of this pattern should match either your trousers or your jacket and it should be delicate so you’d still look smart. Too much is not good, hope you remember;) that’s why I’d avoid big floral combinations and mixtures of too many zigzags and large strange patterns which would draw the attention away from your face.

In this photo I’m wearing:

  • navy office trousers (H&M)
  • light patterned summer top (H&M)
  • black jacket (H&M)
  • black open-toe heels (Calvin Klein)

3. Cream and cream to bring some light:

I don’t know why but when I dress up in bright colours I always feel happier and more energetic! I somehow instinctively choose to wear cream or white when it’s sunny and warm outside (which is very rare in Ireland unfortunately). Are you the same?

A light top or a jacket would brighten up your face and bring some more “joy” to your outfit. If you want to combine it with a similar colour top, make sure it has some delicate patterns to it, otherwise you would make it look too monotonous and… well, rather boring…

Now, you can finish it up with similar-coloured heels that would match either your top or your jacket. I think navy heels would also look great in this combination however light-coloured shoes make your legs look longer;)

In this photo I’m wearing:

  • navy office trousers (H&M)
  • cream awl-patterned top with short sleeves (Oasis)
  • cream jacket (H&M)
  • cream patterned heels (Calvin Klein)

4. Let’s go a bit crazy (ah why not?):

Have I mentioned delicate patterns before? 😉 I know every now and again we women like to go a bit crazy! Here’s my suggestion. Brave but not too much. Because the pattern is simple and it doesn’t have too many colours, it matches well with the rest of the outfit. Top has the same colour as the trousers and it also looks great when you take off the jacket because it has 3/4 navy-coloured sleeves (which I adore!). The back of the top is also plain navy. The colour of my heels match my glasses however if you have dark blue heels, they would look great too! What do you think, girls?

In this photo I’m wearing:

  • navy office trousers (H&M)
  • navy front-patterned top (Oasis)
  • cream jacket (H&M)
  • black heels (Primark)

As you see, only one pair of trousers, two different jackets and so many combinations. Just remember not to mix too many colours and don’t go crazy with patterns and jewellery.
