Yes! My legs were on fire this week! And they still are… I’ve had three really tough workouts within the last few days:
- WEDNESDAY: weights
- THURSDAY: intensive cardio interval training
- SATURDAY: running
I know! Who does cardio the day after leg day?!?!?!! Probably some insane freak like me :p But hey, it actually hasn’t been planned at all. I was supposed to have a rest day cause my muscles were quite sore after that weights session, and I wanted to give them some time to recover. But listen, life sometimes brings you surprises 😉 and here’s one: one of my friends from the fitness group I’m a member of, has been doing a live, her first live actually! and she was asking who would join her, being all very enigmatic about her plan… Ha! Of course I volunteered!!! Cause I was quite curious what it would be. I just can’t resist a good challenge :p So I was laughing later that she dragged my ass out from the kitchen but in fact I was really glad with my decision to join her. The workout was GREAT! I was nearly crying while doing all the squats and jumping squats and lunges OMG! 😮 But the workout was awesome, and the feeling of doing it together with someone who is on the other side of the Internet somewhere far away in Poland, was also extremely motivating and really nice 🙂 And actually I think it was the first time when I met her kind of in person, you know what I mean 😉 I’m really hoping for more of those Internet fitness meetings and workouts done together. You should try it too! Great fun, and you don’t even feel the time passing.
But let’s start from the beginning.
WEDNESDAY. I felt that my legs have not been given a hard enough training for some time, and since me and my husband are still having a break from the gym, I had to think about some tough workout with weights at home. I did this:
- Sumo squats (3×12)
- Romanian deadlifts (3×12)
- Squats with kettlebell swing (3×15)
- Fire hydrant with ankle weights (3×20 each leg)
- ……. (see below) (3×20 each leg)
Those last two with ankle weights only look so innocent and easy… try 20reps for each leg, or do 30! They will put your glutes on fire!!!!! Hell, yeah!!!
(No drawings today. I quit after several attempts to draw the exercise from the video :p )
I also did 15min of this HIIT ABS workout:
And what can I say? I’ve weakened 😦 Or perhaps I’ve just had a weaker day, I should probably explain it to myself this way, trying to make myself feel better. Oh, it was so tough! I used to do squats with 40kg and once even with 50kg! And now I’m back to 32kg… Same with romanian deadlift… 32kg. It used to be 40! Ahhh… time to go back to the gym and stick to the schedule! I just hope it will be soon… when my husband recovers from his sore throat…
THURSDAY. As I mentioned above, it was my friend’s “fault” :p If it wasn’t for her I would’ve probably be sitting in the kitchen eating my cottage pie and drinking wine… Instead I did the latest programme by our famous Polish fitness celebrity: Ewa Chodakowska. And this workout was absolutely AMAZING! I’m convinced to buy it on CD and do it more often. Thank you Marta, for remotely kicking my ass on that day! I needed that!
Here, look at my sweaty face after this deadly 45 minutes:
The feeling afterwards: PRICELESS! 😀
SATURDAY. That is today 🙂 Ahh… Saturday… Weekend… One of those lazy days when you only want to sit and rest after the whole week of stress at work and futile attempts to squeeze all your duties and everything within only 12 hours (well, maybe something like 18 in my case, as I borrow some time from the night hours). But you see, I have this strange calling sometimes – it’s the weather! We’re being spoiled by rather unnatural warm and DRY weather in Ireland recently, and usually on days like this, I prefer to go for a short run. To be away from everything for just a moment, and do something good for my body. And that’s how I ended up in the nearby park and ran a little bit over 4km. It was tough, I had strange breathing issues, as if asthmatic? (what!?!?) Weird, cause I don’t have asthma! But I had difficulties breathing and had to take short breaks of walking. Besides, I was still sore after the latest two workouts, so my legs felt like I was dragging two bags of cement behind them. I thought I wouldn’t do more than 2km, but I really pushed myself to my limits today. So in the end I’m really happy with the distance and all.
Really lovely place for a run, that park! But hilly, so quite challenging too.
